In 2025, we expect much greater connectivity between crypto projects and traditional finance, says Cronos Labs MD
Web3 startup accelerator focused on DeFi, GameFi and blockchain development, Cronos Lab, announced on January 31 2025 that its mainnet networks Cronos EVM and Cronos zkEVM were now live on LayerZero, the leading cross-blockchain interoperability protocol.
Benefits of Cronos X LayerZero:
Expanded Connectivity: The integration connects Cronos to the aggregated liquidity of over 115 blockchain networks including Ethereum, Solana and other EVM-compatible layer 1 and layer 2 networks.
Enhanced Development: Leveraging this partnership, builders can now create bridges, grow tokens, and develop a vast number of cross-blockchain applications.
Future Growth: Further, this creates the foundation for several other protocol integrations as hundreds of LayerZero-powered apps can now reach Cronos users and access billions in crypto assets securely stored on Cronos
What This Means for Cronos EVM and Cronos zkEVM:
For Cronos EVM: This integration enables users to seamlessly transfer assets between the Cosmos SDK ecosystem, dozens of EVM-compatible blockchains, and Solana.
For Cronos zkEVM: LayerZero enhances users’ current ability to leverage the native Ethereum bridge while also offering faster cross-blockchain transfers
A Milestone for Cross Chain Interoperability:
Ken Timsit, Managing Director of Cronos Labs, said “Cross-chain interoperability has been a major priority of the Cronos project since its inception.”
“Given the significant security and liquidity challenges associated with the fragmentation of the crypto industry, Cronos Labs is executing on that priority with caution and determination,” he added.
Bryan Pellegrino, CEO of LayerZero Labs called the partnership “exciting”, stating that Cronos zkEVM is one of the first elastic chains LayerZero has expanded to.
What’s Next:
Cronos Lab has emphasized its commitment to support developers looking to explore the newly offered functionalities to build dApps in use cases such as cross-chain prediction markets; tokenization of real-world assets; trading platforms for synthetic assets; cross-chain lending protocols and other DeFi applications, marking exciting roads ahead for Cronos.
